How I work:
I realize that no two people are the same and as such tailor my approach to meet the specific needs of my clients and to determine the most appropriate treatment plan. I use client input, client goals, and clinical experience to determine the method or combination of methods that will be most effective for each individual. While I believe strongly that each person is unique and requires a custom approach, my treatment is driven by scientifically proven methods of intervention. I have extensive experience in the evidence based practices of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT).
I will help you recognize problem roots, understand unhelpful patterns, fully realize your strengths and adjust certain thoughts and behaviors to improve your perspective and live in a healthy way.
Who I treat:
My practice specializes in treating adults and teens through individual, couples and family therapy. While I treat many different life challenges and psychological conditions, my primary area of expertise is in the treatment of difficult to treat concerns including Borderline features/Borderline Personality Disorder as well as depression (mood disorders). However, I also specialize in the treatment of anxiety, relationship difficulties and life transitions (transition to college, change of career, parenthood, divorce/breakup).
My Style:
Collaborative – I will take you, your goals, and your preferences seriously. I believe you are the expert on you and always welcome your input and feedback. I will help you achieve your identified goals and/or find the solution to your problem. My goal is for you to have an experience that will be most beneficial and effective for you.
Safe and Comfortable – My approach is non-judgmental, empathic, relaxed and warm. I also feel that some humor, when appropriate, can be incredibly healing. I strive to create a safe atmosphere for you to explore your concerns without feeling judged.
My belief:
I believe strongly in finding the best fit between client and therapist. I believe that if you don’t feel comfortable with your therapist, treatment will not be very effective. In fact, research indicates that the therapeutic alliance is one of the most important predictors of positive therapy outcome. Therefore, I offer a free initial phone consultation so that you can have the opportunity to talk to me, ask questions and determine if it feels like the best fit for you.
